Just minutes before writing this, I was enjoying holding  my sweet two-month-old daughter in my lap. When I hold her, she squirms in my lap and practices her smiles.

My heart breaks as I stare into her deep blue eyes and think of all the babies who never got the chance to practice smiling at their mommies.

And my heart is crushed to think of all the mommies who never experienced the joy that comes from having their child smile at them for the first time.

Since the legalization of abortion in America in 1973, there have been over 54 million babies aborted. To put that into perspective, New York City’s population is 8.5 million. New York City could have been repopulated 6 1/2 times over with the number of babies aborted since the passing of Roe v. Wade.

Recently, the movie, Unplanned shared the true life story of Abby Johnson. Her story is bringing much media attention to the issue of abortion again. Along with the media attention, this movie has Christians everywhere seeking practical ways they can spiritually support the pro-life movement.

How Can I Spiritually Support The Pro-Life Movement?

I’ll be honest. Often, in my day-to-day life it certainly seems that I can’t do much to put action behind my pro-life beliefs.

More than anything, I want to see the end of this modern-day genocide of unborn babies. But what can I, an average stay-at-home mom, do to really make a difference?

This question has sent me on the search for ways that I (and my whole family) can be intentional about supporting the pro-life movement in every way possible.

Which is why I am working on a whole series of posts dedicated to the practical aspects that Christian women can take to support the pro-life movement. As each post goes up, I will include the links in a list below so you can check them all out!

Practical Ways To Spiritually Support The Pro-Life Movement

As a Christian, I must highlight that first and foremost, the battle for the unborn is a spiritual one.

Ephesians 6:12 states, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

We must acknowledge that our fight is not all going to happen in this physical realm. Instead a large portion of this battle will happen on our knees in persistent and consistent prayer.

Become A Prayer Warrior

Christian women must be prayer warriors. The unborn children of the world need us lifting them before the throne of God daily!

Set Aside Time To Pray

Pray whenever the Holy Spirit prompts you to pray.

Hang prayer cards around your house to remind you to pray.

Schedule a time of day to pray about the unborn.

Set an alarm on your phone to remind you to pray.

Plan a prayer meeting with your small group with the sole focus to lift up the pro-life movement in prayer.

Turn off your devices for a day and dedicate yourself to hours of focused intentional prayer.

Pray Specific Prayers

Pray for the unborn babies.

Lift up the young mothers facing crisis pregnancies.

Plead with God to help bring an end to this heinous atrocity called abortion.

Intercede for the hearts of young mothers who have had abortions and are facing the memory of their unborn child.

Call upon God to transform hearts of those within the abortion industry so that they will end their evil ways.

Everyone Can Pray

As Christians, we must pray.

Best of all, anyone can pray. My three year old daughter can pray. The 92 year old shut in at the local nursing home can pray. Busy soccer moms can pray. No matter what season of life God has you in right now, you can pray.

Learn God’s Word About The Sanctity Of Life

Throughout Scriptures you will find that God has much to say about sanctity of life.

God Values Human Life

God created human life. From the very beginning of time God stated that the creation of mankind was “very good.” No other part of His creation got that high praise.

We are created in the image of God. As His image bearers, we are to value the life of every other human because they also are created in His image.

God has stated throughout the Bible that He has plans and purposes for every person, even before they were conceived! While a pregnancy can be unplanned in human eyes, it is certainly not unplanned in the eyes of God. He has given that little baby value and purpose long before they were ever even a thought in their mother’s mind.

God Commands People Not To Shed Innocent Blood Or Commit Murder

One of the shortest of the Ten Commandments is, “You shall not murder.” (Exodus 20:13) God doesn’t mess around when it comes to the taking of human life. It is wrong. Simply because the baby is living inside the mother’s body and is smaller than a baby that has already been born does not mean that it is not a human.

When we think about abortion we must call it what it is-murder of an innocent human being.

Once we agree with God that murder of this sweet baby is wrong, we will not be able to turn a blind eye to the horrible injustice that is this practice of abortion.
