My hubby makes it possible for me to stay home full time with our two kids. We are planning to homeschool our kids because he makes that a priority. Plus, he sets aside time every evening to let me enjoy peace and quiet and to work on my blog (which is a HUGE sanity saver for this SAHM!)

Plus, he has taken the initiative to read to our kids and lead a quick family devotion every night. He is constantly finding little ways to show us how much he loves us and thinks of us during his day at work.

Let me tell you, I have a keeper! πŸ˜‰

But a lot of times, I forget to let him know that!

So, when special occasions roll around like Father’s Day and his birthday, I find myself struggling to find meaningful gifts that show him how much he means to me and to our kids.

Why We Need To Treasure Christian Dads

With fatherless kids reaching epidemic proportions in our culture, we as Christian wives and mothers need to step up and show the man in our life just how much we love him.

We need to let him know that he is doing an incredible job of being there for us and our kids!

One way we can do that is through meaningful gifts.

Probably my biggest challenges in finding gifts that will be enjoyed by husband is the fact that he is different from Dad. (Shocker right?) What my Dad finds encouraging and enjoyable doesn’t often fit the bill for my husband. And what my husband enjoys might not be appreciated by the guys who are married to my Bible study girlfriends. Each guy has their own “thing” that they enjoy and are encouraged by.

Guys have different interests and different areas where they will need encouragement. I try to cover several different options that would work for many Christian guys but this is where you come in! You know your man better than anyone. You know what discourages him and what makes him laugh and what motivates him.

Let this gift guide be a spring board for ideas that you can tweak to suit your husband. Or if you are looking for something for your dad, think about what would be meaningful to him! Remember to step into their shoes and see how they would view the gift.

Gift Ideas for the Christian Dad

Okay, let’s get looking for that gift! πŸ™‚

Books For The Christian Dad

If your husband enjoys a good read and also wants to grow his faith, these are some options that he could consider.

The Bravehearted Gospel

In The Bravehearted Gospel, Eric Ludy addresses the severe short comings that are happening with Western culture and the Christian church. He issues a call for men to raise up and live out a Biblical gospel. If your man wants or would enjoy a call against apathy and for Christ-centered living, this book will most definitely interest him.

Parenting

Being a Dad is tough work. Being a Christian Dad is an even higher calling and harder job. In Parenting, Paul David Tripp lays down a frame work of Biblical principles to help parents get a better Big Picture look at the importance of what they are doing in their kid’s life every single day. The best part about this book is that it can be useful for parents of kids in any stage of life.

Love Your God with All Your Mind

Christians do not need to check their brains at the door of the church. You can be a reasonable, intelligent person and a Christian. They are not mutually exclusive. If your husband enjoys logic, apologetics, or Christian worldview, I would recommend Love Your God with All Your MindΒ for him. In fact, I would recommend it for every Christian but that is another post for another day. πŸ™‚

For Men Only

Does your husband ever complain that women are impossible to understand? Well, let him know that while we can be curious creatures there is hope for figuring out a little bit about us. In For Men Only, Shaunti and Jeff Feldhahn, work through many of the main questions that guys have about women. When we were first married, my hubby and I read the For Men Only and For Women Only books at the same time and found it really opened up the conversations to help us communicate better in our marriage. Definitely something worth checking out!

Shirts for the Christian Dad

Let’s get Dad some new shirts that show off his good looking arm muscles! πŸ™‚

Tools For The Christian Dad

Help dad step up his faith game by giving him the “write” tools.Β  (Sorry, I had to put a Dad joke in here somewhere…)

Does your husband enjoy listening to sermons or podcasts online? Well, set him up with some earbuds or a portable Bluetooth speaker so he can listen while he works out. Currently, my husband also loves to listen to his Christian music playlist in the shower which is why we love the fact that this particular system is waterproof!

Perhaps, he likes to take notes during the church service to help him remember what was talked about? Give him a great place to record these notes as well as a great pen that won’t just die on him right away!

Is he tired of using his old Bible? Consider giving him a new Bible and Bible highlighters for him to up his personal Bible study game.

Does your church have a men’s group or men’s retreat? Offer to cook up some meals to keep the guys fed while they do their activities.

Stop and take a serious look at your man’s daily life. See what could possibly help fill in that gap that he might be needing.

Your man does want to be a great Christian dad and husband. Come along beside him and find the tools that he needs to make that easier!

Games For The Christian Dad

Recently my husband found himself really drawn to gaming. Not video gaming. Actually board games. But these games were NOT like Monopoly, Sorry and Candy Land. They were good games. Apparently, there is a big comeback of gaming that we were totally oblivious to until a few months ago.

Now my husband enjoys hours of researching and finding just the right games for us to purchase. In fact, we splurged on several games for our Valentine’s Day gifts to each other this year!

While not all these games are Christian, there are some out there with direct Christian themes. One of those games is called Commissioned. It is a game where all the players work together to spread the Church throughout the Roman Empire. Nerdy? Absolutely! But SO much fun.

What we love the most about games and gaming is the family time we get to spend together having fun and enjoying each other’s company. While not overtly Christian games, I must recommend Ticket To Ride, Dixit, Forbidden Island, and Kingdomino for starters. This is a great way for your whole family to spend quality time with Dad and it gives him a positive way to interact with you all without putting a ton of pressure on him!

Activities For The Christian Dad

Finally, might I recommend that you save up and do activities together with the Christian man in your life?

For starters, I have to highly recommend the Creation Museum. My husband and I went before we had kids and we are waiting another year or so to return because we want our kids to be just a bit older so they can enjoy and understand it better. What is awesome is that now you can go to the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter as they are not very far apart from each other.

And even better news-Answers in Genesis just announced a few days ago that they are making their pricing even more family friendly! WOOT! πŸ™‚

This is a great place for the whole family to go and enjoy faith-building family fun. Both the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum are state of the art discovery and learning museums.

Finally, check with local churches and men’s groups to see if they have yearly retreats or monthly activities. One group in our town actually goes clay pigeon shooting a couple times of year. And at another point of the year, they go on a men’s retreat to the Rocky Mountains to hear great Christian speakers. These are great places for Christian guys to go build their faith and enjoy some manly time with other dudes.

CTA, Inc.

Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that CTA offers some amazing bulk and individual gift ideas for dads each year at Father’s Day. Whether you are just looking to make a gift basket for your husband or needing to give a gift to all the dads in your church, you will find some amazing options on their website!
